The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has filed a complaint against crypto exchange Unicoin and its top executives, accusing them of misleading investors with false claims about fundraising achievements. The agency alleges the company inflated its reported $3 billion rights certificate offerings while actually raising just $110 million.

CEO Alex Konanykhin and former president Silvina Moschini are among those named in the Southern District of New York filing. The case highlights ongoing regulatory scrutiny of crypto ventures making unsubstantiated claims to attract investment capital.
